Destiny awaits…move

Have you ever listened to a great sermon, or had a revelation from God through his word and then thought, wow, that was deep, but i will act on it tomorrow? I have, many times, recently while i was listening to a sermon by Christine Caine at the Code Orange Revival, (amazing sermon by the way!) i got a revelation!

Remember the story of Moses, Pharaoh and the plagues? Particularly the “Frogs plague” Exodus 8:1-15 just read what Pharaoh said here:

“8…Pray to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.”

⁹ Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”

¹⁰ “Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said.

You know i have read this passage many times and i never thought of verse 10 that way, “tomorrow” he said, i don’t know maybe he just wanted one more night with his frogs, but he had the opportunity to get them taken care of instantly but he said tomorrow. By the way these are frogs yea, all over his country:

³ The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs. ⁴ The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”

But he said, “tomorrow”. Which made me wonder, what “frogs” do we hold on to? What excuses do we give to continue holding on to them and delay our freedom and destiny?

1. Procastination

You read a word or you listen to a good sermon on the power of persistant prayer, and you think, this is awesome, i need to improve my prayer life, i will do it….tomorrow. Or you even pay money to attend a financial management seminar, you know your finances are on the rocks, you get useful tips, and you think to yourself, those were amazing, I will implement them….tomorrow. Sounds familiar?

Isaiah 43:19 says; “See, I am doing a new thing! NOW it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

God wants to do a new thing NOW, not tomorrow. Allow yourself to be quickened in your spirit and move as the holy spirit moves.

2. Stuck in past moments of pain

Maybe you’ve been hurt or abused in the past and you are full of shame or regret. You want God to use you, you look around and you see others walking in their destinies and you want that too but you think, man, i have waaaayyy too much baggage, you just don’t know where i’ve been and God cannot surely use someone like me? That moment of pain becomes what defines your whole being and stops you from stepping in what God called you to be.

Can we change the past? Can we undo some of the things that we have been through?No! Being freed doesn’t mean you suddenly have amnesia and you forget what happened, but it means we can begin to accept and deal with those pains with strength from God. The process of recovery is more painful than the injury that took place, but you have to allow God in to break you apart, get into that place and start healing you. Freedom has no personality, background or past, freedom comes through the blood of Jesus and everyone qualifies!

You can spend your whole life defining yourself with your past, or you can go into the fullness of what he says about you. He says:

 

I am the Creator and you are my creation. I breathed into your nostrils the breath of life (Genesis 2:7). I created you in my own image (Genesis 1:27). My eyes saw your unformed substance (Psalm 139:16). I knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). I know the number of hairs on your head, and before a word is on your tongue I know it (Matthew 10:30; Psalm 139:4). You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

You are more valuable than many sparrows (Matthew 10:31). I have given you dominion over all sheep and oxen and all beasts of the field and birds of the heavens and fish of the sea (Psalm 8:6–8; Genesis 1:26, 28). I have crowned you with glory and honor as the pinnacle and final act of the six days of creation (Psalm 8:5; Genesis 1:26).

The key to stepping into your destiny is to move, make that predetermined step to get yourself out of that funk that is holding you back. There is life beyond pain, but you need to want to MOVE past it.

Another thing is to BELIEVE God is who he says he is, the world is full of unbelieving believers who sing praises and quote verses about a God who is almighty, but when it comes to believing it for our own situations, suddenly we don’t believe He will do what He says he will do. I pray that you become truly convicted and believe what He says about you, who He created you to be; God’s destiny awaits he who has faith in Him.
